Not sure what I can and can not do with CPS
My daughter and grandson were living with us so she could go to hair dressing school and better herself. 2 weeks ago she wouldn't get out of bed and take care of the baby (he's 18mo old) she was leaving him in the room to play alone while she slept. We got in a verbal altercation, they she hit me. She left bruises, a bump on the head and bruised ribs. She was arrested for family violence. Cps was called, (by me) and my grandson was put in my care temporarly while she found a place to live and to wait on her drug test. I do her supervised visits at my house. She gets upset with me because I will not let her take the baby, she is rude, she comes when she wants because the paper work state, "supervised visits at the mothers convience" so she won't set times, she just shows up when she wants and leaves when she wants. She was hot for meth and marijuana she admitted that to me. She stated her case worker was coming to talk to her Monday, but I haven't heard anything. My questions are...

    1. do I have to do the supervised visits? I do not know why the judge would not order a protection order but she won't. I'm scared of my daughter and I'm tired of having to let her treat me so horrible but I want her to see her son too...

    2. am I allowed to call her case worker and ask what is going on myself? If I do have to supervise the visits can I request that they be on certain days and times? For example around my work/sleep schedule? She is not employed right now and only goes to school on Wed, Thur, Fri.

I just don't know what my daughter will have to do to get her son back, or will they just give him back with the positive drug tests? She does have a boyfriend that is supporting her but he is no better. He has a long criminal history including family violence, assault and drug charges. I just have so many questions and not sure where to turn and I didn't want to bother the case worker if that isn't what I'm supposed to do

What does the court order say about the visits? You personally do not have to be the supervisor, but the court order should say something about how to set a supervisor. Otherwise, yes, talk to the caseworker about it.

If the court order doesn't specify a schedule, then you can work out a schedule with her. Since you have guardianship, she has to adhere to your schedule.

If you are scared of her, you should not be the person to supervise the visits. I agree what does the court order say? And if there is trouble, you need to call and talk to CPS.

Personally I would not let her just drop by but have some set times for the visits, and have it done when someone else is at home with you
