My house, where I live with my young family, is about 5 km from a Navy port where nuclear powered submarines are often berthed. Friends of ours live slightly closer and they have received an information leaflet from the city council giving details about how stable iodine tablets will be automatically issued to them in the event of a reactor accident. I phoned the council and asked why our house was not going to be issued with these tablets and they said that we were too far away for there to be a hazard. However, I am worried because after Fukushima the size of the hazard area was 20 or 30 km. I have found a web site where I can buy a pack of 14 tablets for $9.99. Should I buy some of these tablets for me and my family?

How do you know those are what they claim they are on a website? A very large persentage of so-called medications online are not what they claim and sometimes dangerous.

Spend extra money and buy from a credible local source so you know you have what you think you are buying.

You will most likely never use them but in that tiny chance you would have to... then you won't falsely believe you took something that was worthless.
