What kind of birth controls can I use except condoms?
Hi. I'm 19 years old woman and I'm married. I live in New York. I am not comfortable with condoms. I don't like it. So, I wanted to take pills or spermicides but I'm afraid to use them because I heard that they have side effects. So please, would you kindly help me by explaining what else can I use except condoms which are side effect free.

Pills, implants, and all the things you mentioned. All have possible side effects.

None are 100 percent effective, if you want no baby, you should be using pills or something else and condoms.

Condoms are the lease effective of normal birth control, having a 3 to 10 percent failure rate.

** pull out has a much higher failure rate and for many is not even considered a method

Your doctor is your best resource here. There's lots to consider, for example:

Are you going to be wanting children in the near future? If not, think about an IUD.

Many women handle the pill perfectly fine. There are lots of different pills, so if one makes you feel icky, you can try something else. There are also low hormone pills and mini-pills (progestin only) that you can try.

There are other options like the nuva ring or depo-provera shot if you have trouble remembering the pill.

Just make an appointment with your doctor or Planned Parenthood, and they can walk you through your options.
