    Being legally "bonded"
I'm a senior citizen and want to start working as a babysitter for 2 school age kids. Do I need to be "Bonded"? And, if so, who do I go to?
    Thank you in advance.

Bonding is a type of insurance available through full service insurance agencies. I see no need for a babysitter to be bonded unless an employer requires it and you are willing to pay for it, and pass the costs on in the form of higher rates. Bonding is often done by the owners of agencies like housecleaners and nannies who hire a lot of people who their clients don't know, and it insures them against various charges. If you know the family who wants to hire you, I wouldn't get bonded.

I needed to get a bond for my business and I have to say, if you don't really need one, don't do it. Bonding is not cheap. It is easy enough to do though. You can search for "surety bonds" and get them that way. Many insurance companies do this or can direct you where to get one also. It's hard to say for sure how much it would cost because it depends on your credit history, the amount of bonding you need, and what you need it for.

There should be no reason for one. If you are going to work for a baby sitting service, or company they may require it, but if so, they would take care of it.

You would want some sort of liablity insurance, in case a child was hurt while in your care
