New lighting fixture; Bulb burning dim...

I just installed a new ceiling fan/light fixture. The instructions say maximum bulb to be used is candellabra-style 60W. I've tried 40W and 60W. Both seem to be far too dim for their respective wattages. What could be going wrong. FYI: the fan works perfect at all 3 speeds. Thanks.

A friend installed an Edgemont transitional collection Hampton Bay ceiling fan w/light for me. The lighting is so incredibly dim, it is almost dark! This fan uses some type of LED light plate (no bulbs?). Is there something I'm missing in order to get brighter light? There is no remote control...

My house was built in the 1930's and the wiring I'm sure is as old. The lights turned on tend to be on a dimmer they will be dim then go bright almost like an electrical serge sometimes flicker. Also I have a fan If set on med to high it will slow down then speed up. What's causing this? View more questions Search
