How do I get Tennessee to relinquish jurisdiction of a child support case
Parent A and B divorced in Tennessee. Parent A had custody of minor child until he became unemployed and turned over custody of minor child to Parent B because at the time Parent B was working.

Now 3 years later Parent B is having trouble with minor child and wants Parent A to have custody again. (minor child is 7).

Here is the problem. Parent A lives in Florida and has for 3 years, Parent B lives in Tennessee. Yes Tennesse has jurisdiction over this case but is there anyway to get it transferred to Florida because of the cost of traveling back and forth to Tennesse for court?? And if so where can I find the forms used to file for this and also for the termination of the child support order.

If both parents agree why is there traveling back and forth ? They hire an attorney together, work out all details, and submit motion to the judge.

    No TN has jurisdiction

Family courts are generally less formal, you can contact the clerk of the court for the forms needed.

If A and B are willing for the modification of custody, then this should be simple. A letter to the effect that B is willing to accept custody, should be sufficient.

Here is a site for TN forms. If the required forms are not listed you will need to take a look at the law and prepare your papers from scratch.

Only an Order can change an Order. Therefore, Court-ordered support can only be changed by another Court Order. A side agreement to "drop" child support does not change the original order. In theory the parent who is surrendering custody could go back to Court at any time to support the Court Order, even though it had been agreed that it would be terminated.
