    Shingles
    Can I be around my father in law while I am pregnant while he has shingles? I am not immune to rubella so I was told to stay away from odd illness's... what should I do?

    Stay away until your father in law is over the shingles. I've been there too. For the last two weeks of my pregnancy my father had shingles. I am immune to rubella, and was still told to stay away, from both my doctor and my father's doctor.

    When my son was born my father couldn't even come to the hospital to see him, because he was still contagious.

    Stay away until FIL is in the clear.

    Shingles has nothing to do with rubella. Shingles is a "version" of the chicken pox virus, and yes, you need to stay away from him.
