My ankles swell and my legs from the knees down feel tingly or like I
For about 3 months now, my legs from the knees down, both legs, feel like I have wooly socks on. My ankles and legs swell at night and my whole body feels bloated, in the neck too. I thought it was thyroid, so I started taking iodine, the 3 kinds. It did take the swelling down fast, the liquid kind. But the tingling still remains. So I have tried protein dificentcy but eating more meat, but that doesn't do anything. I started taking more calcium and magnesium and even billberry and restless leg syndrome supplements, to see if it was that, but just kind of took the swelling down, but not the tingling. I do have ringing in the ears too, but I didn't notice it before. I tried Kale in a blender and that seemed to help more, so Iodine and Kale and protein and calcium with magnesium is where I am now. If I miss any if goes right back to the same symptoms. And really just alleviates it for 1/2 a day before I need to take more. Iodine says only once a day, but now I'm doing twice a day cause it seems to help. The liquid is the best and cheaper, the long lasting didn't seem to work, the capsule. It's making me a little crazy cause if I stand and sit for a long time I get all swelled up and my legs get so back. Like sparks in the veins. I don't have med insurance, and I am unemployed right now, so I have no money for a doctor. Diabetes test is next. If you have any thoughts please post, thank you, Sue

Self diagnosing is dangerous, very dangerous. Too much iodine is very dangerous alone. You are tearing up your liver.

My husband had neuropathy and this is exactly how he described the sensation.

My thoughts, as a medical professional, are that what you are doing is dangerous. VERY dangerous.

You are overdosing on iodine. The human female body only needs 210 micrograms of iodine per day. One can get 210 mcg in their daily diet. Any more than 210 mcg can cause actually damage your thyroid by causing thyroid papillary cancer and/or hyperthyroidism.

An iodine overdose can bring a number of different symptoms.

    Abdominal pain
    Delirium
    Coughing
    Diarrhea
    Metallic taste
    Fever
    Throat pain
    Mouth pain
    No urine output
    Shock seizures
    Stupor
    Shortness of breath
    Vomiting
    Thirst

This doesn't happen immediately, but over time.

Self-diagnosing as you are is very foolish. Rather than "curing" what is ailing you, you are actually creating a host of additional problems.

Is there a reason why you have not seen your doctor about these issues?

I have no idea what "cares" is, but I would guess this is good news.

I'd be certain he's aware of how many supplements you take and the dosages.
