Obtaining a CAF # for tax form 2848 POA
Hi,
Do you have to be a cpa to obtain a caf # (number required on tax form 2848, POA)?

Yes, CPA will provide CAF number. If they do not have it, then write None; IRS will provide it to the representative (the CPA).

Any tax professional (tax attorney, CPA, enrolled agent, tax consultant) can get a CAF # from the IRS.

Check Internal Revenue Service. I believe it can be done on-line. If not, a change of address form will need to be mailed.
