    A Difficult Diagnosis
    Good day,

I am a 27 year old male and have been suffering the following symptoms for months now:

-Dark circles that do not leave, even when using cream.
-Loss of concentration, finding it difficult to maintain a consistent thought.
    -Weak memory.
-Foggy perception, as if living in a dream (foggy brain?)
    -Feeling heavy, and tired.
-Do not feel refreshed even when just have woken up.
-Finding it hard to speak coherently, as if my mouth stumbles when trying to pronounce a letter, this comes and goes on a daily basis.
    - My voice becomes raspy, weak and breaks after I exercise.
-Feel sleepy when on a long road, and when on the PC at times.
    -Blocked nose throughout the day.
    -Unstable body temp. at times.
    - Weakened/altered sense of smell and taste, eggs, meat, some veggies and perfumes smell/taste different than they used to.

I have gone to both, a NET specialist and a Physican. The NET doctor helped cure my inflamed sinuses (at the time) by giving me antibiotics once and about 3 Nasonex bottles over a period of 3 or so months (I have heard that they can lead to alteration of the smell and taste senses, is that true?). Then I went to the Physican and had tests done for my Thyroid, Iron levels, and Vitamin B12 and D levels, all of which were in good shape, save for the vitamins, and my blood pressure which he later noticed. He eventually gave me medicine for my blood pressure (Concor COR 2.5 mg) and Vitamin B12 (Methycobal 500ug) and Vitamin D (One-Alpha 1mcg Alfacalcidol). The blood pressure medicine helped relieve some of the symptoms such as the unstable body temp. and heavy/tired feeling but did not cure them completely. Worthy of note, my workplace is a bit far from the city so for my breakfasts and lunches I do not have access to meals other than ones that mostly contain Carbs, sandwiches, for 5 days of the week for about a year now.

I hope you can spot the problem for me as these symptoms have made my day to day life difficult and tedious.

    Thanks a lot.

Why is a 27 year old taking a strong beta blocker? There must be more to this. What did the doctor say is the underlying cause of your HBP?

What is family history of heart disease?

There's always the possibility that you have multiple conditions. Chronic sinus congestion can lead to infection, as you found out, and that certainly will make you tired - as will taking antibiotics. You could be allergic to wheat or any other food, and you could have a poor diet in general, causing the vitamin deficiency. Testing for 2 vitamins and both being low would certainly make me examine my whole food intake, and I'm a bigger fan of a multi-vitamin than I am of individual ones. They all interact, and taking a lot of one can even cause a deficiency in others. B vitamins are best taken as a complex. And eat foods high in them. If you want, tell us what you eat most days. But FIRST find out the cause of your HBP.

He said the HBP was due to stress and weight. I am about 120 Kgs or so and 186 Cms tall, and have been stressed for the last 2-3 months. I asked my family about this and they told me there was not anything like that in our history.

I thought some of the symptoms could be related to an allergy of some sorts, but the thing is that most allergy symptoms do not apply, such as heavy breathing, skin rashes etc..

As for my daily breakfast and lunch meals usually consists of supermarket sandwiches, while my dinner meals can include fruits, chicken, rice, lasagne etc..

(A little over 6' and 265 pounds for us in the US.)

I'm not going to second guess your doctors. I'd get a second opinion on the beta blocker though! (Concor for being overweight and stressed?) And not even very much overweight.

HBP can make you feel all the things you are feeling, all by itself. What is your typical BP on a typical day? Also the drug Concor can make you feel weak. Once you are on a serious medication like that, it isn't always easy to remember what symptoms were there before or since.

As for food allergies, there really are no set rules for what symptoms you get. I'm not insisting you have any by any means though. Just something to consider, along with a well rounded diet and a multi-vitamin.
