They tested for both metabolites EtG/EtS. These figures can only derive from the confirmation test and while above cutoff are nonetheless low.

As a comparison one 12 oz beer generated a peak urine level of 4,000 ng/ml in four hours and remained above 100 for 18 hrs. Dr. Skipper has a few examples here.

On the other hand simply inhaling the fumes from normal use of hand sanitizer can peak over 700 ng. See USDTL

All of these figures are meaningless however as EtG is continually being eliminated and cannot be used to time drinking or extrapolate what, how much or time of consumption.

Notwithstanding a wealth of information to the contrary SAMHSA recently provided guidance on interpreting EtG test quantities noting any reading above 1000 as high and indicative of drinking.

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Association (SAMHSA), Dept of Health and Human Services, Advisory, Spring 2012 (p. 7).

I drank about 6 beers and 3 shots, Im 5'10 and weigh in at 150 lbs. I haven't been active since I drank, I was involved in a car accident and I have limited mobility, I was hit by a driver that ran a red light. I'm lucky to say I'm OK and I didn't get in trouble. I've been sleeping a lot than usual...
