    Stagnant water smell in toilet
    Hi, I have 2 questions.

    1. In our toilet there is a stagnant water smell - almost a sewage smell. I have located that the smell is coming from the toilet bowl. I have smelt the water tank and it does not have an odor. We are on mains water.

    2. In the ensuite there is a musty odor I can not locate a direct source of the smell. The shower and toilet get used daily. The water in the toilet bowl always looks a yellow color regardless of what I use in the water (bleach etc). Do you have any suggestions?

The house is 13 years old and we have only been here 5 months.

    Thanks heaps

You may have sulfer in the water. Does the neighborhood also have this?

    Hi Doug,

This may be possible. If this is the case would I get the smell in other 'water' areas? I am unsure if others in the neighbourhood have this problem. Do you know how I can determnine if I have sulfur in the water and if so how to fix this? I used to live 10 km away from where we live now and never had this problem.

    Thanks heaps

Rust colored water could be a steel pipe in the line that is rusting. Peek in the tank, any metal rusting in there? Sulfer water would smell like rotten eggs at every fixture.
