    What you need to know for buying an abandoned house
    I'm looking to purchase an abandoned 2 -3 family home in bed-stuy brooklyn... where do I start? I have about 26,000 saved. It is even attainable?

    AN abandoned house is going to need a LOT of work, and that equals lots of money.

    Finding a house you can buy is only part of the problem.

    $26,000 won't go very far even on just the repairs if you do all the labor yourself. Much less buy it AND fix it up.

    If copper thieves have stripped the wiring and plumbing as happens on many abandoned buildings... that alone can cost more than that to replace.
