Why is my voice so boring?
Hi I'm a 14yr old boy, I don't drink or take drugs but I have a deep and boring voice. I've been told its deep and having listened to it, it is. I'm embarrassed to talk aloud in front of people, some of my classmates laughed/sniffled when I did a presentation one time. I was at subway and had to repeat my order twice because they couldn't understand me. I hate my voice so much, what can I do?

It isn't because it is deep. Deep voices are sexy to girls.

Apparently, you are sloppy in how you say words. Maybe you talk too fast (nervousness?).

Google to find a page of tongue twisters. Print it out. Every day, twice a day, go to a quiet place and slowly read the tongue twisters out loud and like you are telling someone the tongue twisters (make them sound interesting). Do it facing a mirror so you see your face. Watch how your expression is. Watch how your lips move.

After two weeks, do the same for another week but not in front of a mirror, but with a good friend or your mother or someone you trust. Ask for an evaluation of your speaking.

Here are some tongue twisters to get you started --

This is what my friend Irene does with a new student. She is a speech therapist.

Go to the library and check out a bunch of children's picture books, the kind that have an illustration on each page and a sentence or two under each illustration. Good choices would be If You Give a Pig a Pancake and others by that author, Giant John, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

Read these out loud, first alone and then to a child. Ask the child to critique your reading and vocal expression.

I don't care. The point is the process, not the content. You want to begin this effort with simple words and sentences. :)
