    Adopting step children
How do I go about adopting my step children without having the expense of an attorney? Their mother has requested me to adopt them and wants to give up all her parental rights.

You should really think about talking to a lawyer even if it is just for a consultation. There are so many different legalities involved. You wouldn't want her to change her mind at some point. My husband and I are going through this same situation and we had a lawyer for custody matters at the time that she decided to give up her rights. She signed the papers yesterday and it would absolutely kill me if she decided to change her mind. You may really want to think about this. Good luck
