    Grandparent gaining custody
My daughter abandon my grandson with the babysitter. CPS has not found her and he was taken into foster care. I want to adopt him legally and become the guardian of my grandson. He is only 4years old and is already emotionally hurt. I want to be able to give him the love he hasn't receive by her. I want him to grow up in a better environment. I have a court hearing soon. I reside in the state of ca. Will most likely get his custody?

I think there is a very good chance of you getting guardianship. Adoption is another matter. Where is the father?

The father was never part of his life.

I beg to differ. The father was very much a part of his life giving birth to him. For an adoption to take place, the father will need to be contacted and relinquish his rights.

The court is proably going to ask about the father as part of the hearing. You are going to need more of an answer than you gave me.

My daughter tried to get in contact with him while she was pregnant, but he always rejected to accept that he was the father. My grandson has never met or talked to his father. No one knows the name of the father, my daughter is the only one that knows. But she is no where to be found.

This is going to make adoption more difficult, because the courts will require that attempts be made to get BOTH parents to sign off on the adoption.
