    (Asking for someone else)

My HP Pavilion DV6 laptop will not use my WI-FI as a wireless device. I always have to connect with a cable to my laptop. It used to be wireless but it changed by itself. I just want to be able to change it back to wireless.

Try recreating the wirless connect from the start.
So search for the wifi name, enter the key and connect.

    If in doubt start over..

Can you "see" any wireless networks, assuming it is enabled of course.

No the only thing that shows is my wireless network disconnected. Unless connect by USB port.

It doesn't show any other networks.

    Thanks, G

Three things I always do when I come across a laptop that isn't viewing any potentially viewable wireless networks are:

    1. Ensure the wireless switch is on!
    2. Ensure the wireless network adapter idn't disabled.
    3. Check to see if Wireless Zero Configuration service is running. (unless you have a program to manage this for you)

Let me know if you need help with any of this!
