    Hippa vilation
    My husband was injured I took him to our local er where he was treated we were there for awhile and decited to phone my mother as she answers first thing she asked was how did he do that ! I said how you know ? She said a friend ours came told her I said how he know she said his girl friend was the er tech called and told him . Is this not a hippa violation and can we sue the hospital

    Yes, this does sound like a HIPAA (not hippa) violation. No you can't sue for this, but you can report it to yhe hospital administrator and that employee will be warned or fired.

    A Hippa violation might get the facility to pay a fine to the regulatory auuthority, and someone might get in trouble, but you can not sue them for monitary damages to line your pockets.

    A HIPPA violation isn't a winning lottery ticket.

    Frankly, your pronouns are all mixed up and I have no idea who said what to whom.

    But if an ER tech called your mother and told her that s/he saw your husband in the ER, that is a violation. As others have pointed out, there is not opportunity to sue, but the hospital can be fined and the ER tech can be fired if you file a complaint.
