How is it that ones son can get a Protective Order through Court on behalf of his wife stopping his mom, dad, sister, best friend etc. etc. to have any contact or make visites or even see or be part of our newly born granddaughter lives?

We think that there might be some kind of witchcraft or something going on there as my son's whole way has changed in a very bad way...
He is a lovely boy.. good mannered, hardworking, trustworthy, friendly, etc. etc. young man and as a family we have always been very close. We always had an open door policy with him and his sister...
We were in seventh heaven when he phoned us from the UK to inform us he is to be married. This lovely girl is from Liverpool and he is an afrikaans boy from South Africa...
We could not attend the wedding because of not being able to get a visum on such a short notice...
We tried to make up for that by ending up paying for the whole reception witch was held in The Anvil Hotel in Gretna Green, Scotland, as well as paying for 30 Guests stay over in the hotel for the weekend... We paid for the rings, clothes, everything...
We even helped his wife to be paying off her debt in London so both of them would be able to start fresh...
We then paid for them to have a 10 day honnymoon here with us, family and close friends here in South Africa...
When he was deployed to Kenya we flew our new daughter over to us in South Africa and did not leave a stone untouched to make her feel welcome and at home.
When it was time for her to go back home, we paid the bill, we've also send her back with plenty of gifts for her, her family and my son...
When my son got kicked out of the army because of hitting one officer after another because of rude remarks towards his wife in October 2011 we once again came to the rescue and picked up the bill to get them in South Africa...
They've spent 10 days with us just before Christmas 2011.. once again we picked up the bills and send them back with plenty...
In the meantime they found out that my daughter in law was pregnant.. wow!! We were so exited!!
Once again spoiled them rotten with gifts for baby, gifts for her and gifts for him...
Then all of a sudden everything is wrong... We found out via grapevine that little one is born we think somewhere by 7 June 2012...
We flew down to supprise them and see our grandchild.. they throw our gifts in the street, act like hooligans, hide away our grandchild so we cannot see her and have us removed by the police after attacking my husband and try to push us over the balcony...
And now the restraining order...
Our hearts is broken...
We do not understand...

If you want to discuss witchcraft you're on the wrong board.

If you want to discuss law there must be a reason for the protective order. They don't just handed out for no reason.

You are also confusing money with love.

Legally your son was part of a protective order. I would guess he has his reasons.

I don't understand your thinking - your son didn't tell you when the child was born, but you thought it was a good idea to show up and surprise him? I don't see any wisdom in that at all.

Ask him - or write him a letter. Or ask the Court.

Excuse me a little here. You are only explaining your side of the story and as JKT pointed out, the same thing I did, that a Protective Order is pretty hard lines even in the UK.

I don't see where my opinion was harsh; it was not a judgment but apparently someone else in your family is judging you and if they have involved the constabulary, then it is something serious.

You go on and on about money. What were people saying about your son's wife? Where in the world are you getting witchcraft? Is it possible that underneath the compliments about the 'lovely girl from Liverpool' you don't think she is good enough for your son? That's one of the most common reasons a child rejects his parents - sticking up for his spouse.
