By law, that was statutory rape.
However, it has been 22 years.
The child in question would be an adult right now, and you are allowed to see him/her or contact him/her if you wish. I wouldn't expect a great big welcome though.
Why has it taken so long for you to decide to see them?

Are you saying that this 13 year old became pregnant with your child, or are you saying that you were convicted of rape, are a registered sex offender, and as such you cannot go on school grounds to watch your children (not the children of the 13 year old) play?
You will be a registered sex offender for life. That won't go away. That's part of the price you pay for committing this crime.

Why haven't you done time in a jail cell with a much larger man with homosexual tendencies that doesn't like pedophiles? OK I see you have... you just won't leave it drop will you. Be lucky her family doesn't take you into a remote area for some payback when the wild animals will eat what's left of you.
If this was MY daughter... you would be thinking about that and not how to continue to torture your rape victim.

I'm going to read between the lines here because your post was very vague. You were convicted of statutory rape for having sex with a 13 yr old. After serving your sentence you were released and are now a registered sex offender. Since your release, you have fathered children and now you question whether you can watch those children play because, as a RSO, you can't go near a school.
If you had been a 16 yr old having sex with a 13 yr old, I might give more of a pass here. But you were 19 and should have known better then to have sex with a 13 yr old. In addition, I suspect that psych testing may have revealed that your tendencies towards pedophilia are a danger.
But the bottom line is you committed a crime. You have to pay the price for that crime. And if your RSO status says you can't go near a school, then you can't.

Ahh, see, I over looked 'rso' because I assumed it was a type (given the rest of the post, that's what I figured)
I didn't even think it meant registered sex offender.
Thank you scott smoothy and alty (I had to spread the rep for you girl :( )

As Scott mentioned, I think the OP is wondering if he would be allowed to go on school grounds to watch his kids (and be around other kids) after all these years --

I got custody of my 2 kids but I had to go through extensive psychological testing and 1,000,000 court proceedings the court system is made for the mother and children to always stay together in my case the mother was worthless and doing drugs even with my registration I was found to be a good father and was granted custody

Honestly, if you still have a PO, I would talk to him, or if not, petition the court to see if your status can be modified (I have no idea if this can even be done but its worth a shot)

Once a sex offender... always a sex offender. It doesn't expire.
Quite honestly... I wouldn't want you (the OP) near a school one of my kids attended... thats why there is a registry and restrictions about how far you have to be away from them.
Without the original conviction being overturned... I've never heard of anyone getting it lifted. And that is exceptionally unlikely to happen.
That's part of the punishment.

Really? You'd be okay with a pedophile (because that's what an adult that has sex with a 13 year old is) hanging out by YOUR daughter's school?
Unless he can get his conviction overturned, it is HIGHLY unlikely that he is going to be allowed at a school near children.
And, as a parent, I wouldn't want him to be.
Being an adult is living with your choices--for the rest of your life. His choice to have sex with a child will now impact his life with his own kids.

He will need to get an attorney and see if the attorney can get the court to review the sentence or allow this.
I do hope the poster will stay on here and answer questions when we get those 19 or 20 year olds wanting to date a 13 or 14 year old. And they don't see anything wrong with it.
His story may be helpful

I can't believe you recommended this! It sickens me that you are attempting to help a child predator find a way to get close to children again. Luckily the pervert doesn't live anywhere near YOUR daughter!

Excuse me, but being rude to me isn't going to change my opinion. And this 'child predator' was a teen, with another teen. Statutory rape yes. Illegal, yes. And I don't approve of that at all. But that still doesn't change my opinion. It has been 22 years. He has children of his own. He was a stupid teen with another stupid teen. I doubt he is a danger to small children.
But that's why I suggested he speak to his PO or the judge. Someone who actually CAN make that judgement.
Again, my opinion. I am sorry that sickens you.

Actually I have a problem with your post, not for the advice, sometimes taking things over does help. BUT, if there is a restraining order in place and they talk, they are breaking the law ( the restraining order ) So what you did was give advice that told them to break the law

Jennie, he was 19, not a teen, but an adult.
An adult that preys on a 13 year old child is a pedophile. I'm sorry, but I have to agree with everyone else.
He made the choice 22 years ago to rape a child. Even if she consented she was only 13, she didn't have the legal right, or the maturity, to consent to sex. As a 19 year old man he knew right from wrong, and that sex with a child is wrong. If he didn't know that, that's a huge concern.
Like it or not this is not a case of a "stupid teen with another stupid teen". This is a case of an adult and a child.

Sorry, but you DID rape this girl. You may not have forced her to have sex, but she was under the age of consent and you should have known better.

My question here is when did you have these children? After you were released for the rape?

I have to somewhat disagree here. Based on what the OP said, this appears to be very bad judgment, but not a pattern. Yes he was wrong and yes he should have done time and yes he should have the RSO tag. But, if a court awarded him custody of his children, then we may not have a pervert here.
This does not mean I would agree that he should be allowed near children. He made a mistake and part of the consequences of that mistake is not being able watch his children when other children are around. But if he has been evaluated and shown not to be a danger, then maybe HIS children should be considered and not deprived of their father's support.

I don't disagree with you there. But I sure as heck wouldn't want him around my children. I'm pretty certain there would be an uprising at the school should the parents find out that a RSO is allowed on the property.
