When I was younger, I used to live In a house on the very edge of the village surrounded by woods and fields.
My family always shares stories about the odd things we saw and heard around the house but I was the one that had the most effect.

Every other night I used to see through my bedroom door, a figure come up the stairs. But I remember clearly that this was no orb or flicker of the light, this was a detailed lady. I remember that she wore a black dress accompanied with a white apron, and she walked up the stairs, that's all she would do every night. She would rise up, turn around the corner at the top of the stairs before heading into my room and vanishing. The fear I had of this gave me night terrors and a fear of the dark I share today. Nobody else in my family could see this.

However my mother had her own experiences. She would wake up in the middle of the night while lying next to my father and see a dark black figure standing at the bottom of the bed watching her. She would try to call out or scream but she would be paralysed, this reoccurred through the nights.

When I changed bedrooms to stop with my sister at the other end of the house, I could not see the 'Maid' as the door opened in the other direction. But I remember that the wallpaper was moving through the night. Even with the light turned on, only I could see the violent shakes. But this wasn't the part I feared, it was the whispering that started, it grew louder through the night, louder if I ignored. I couldn't understand any of it.

I know I probably haven't given a lot of details and I will happily give more if necessary, but I felt that I should share these issues. These events only occurred at this one house.
