Fantasy Reading
I'm a big fantasy dork, and have read the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Harry Potter Books, and was recently turned on to, and read Eragon and Eldest, two of a trilogy by christopher paolini. Does anyone have any suggestions of a good read? Thanks, miles

You would probably enjoy the Gormenghast trilogy, by Mervyn Peake. If you Google it, you'll find loads of reviews to see if it's up your street.
All the best, Linda

Oh, almost forgot - how about Philip Pullman's trilogy, His Dark Materials? The three books are called Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass. They blew me away!

S.M. Stirling, "Island in the Sea of Time" and its two sequels. I found them fascinating!

Look up the Temeraire series by Naomi Novik. She is a really new writer and she is releasing the fourth book of the series in September so you don't have a huge backlog of work to read to catch up to her.

That's a new one to me. I'll add it to my to-be-read list. Of course as far behind as I am, I may be 121 before I get to it!

She won't disappoint you Charles. The first one is called His Majesty's Dragon, the second is Throne of Jade, and the third is Black Powder War.

Fantastic series by George R.R. Martin called A Song of Ice and Fire. Also, any book by Robin Hobb (though her newest series isn't quite as good as the others) will not disappoint. The EarthSea series by LeGuin. There are many others.

I'm trying to remember the title of a book I read once that involved modern people being magically transported to a fantasy land.
It starts with a male Truck driver picking up a female hitch-hiker. They both have terrible personal lives and not much to live for. While they are driving down...

My sister told me about this one. I remember vaguely about it but I can't remember many details.
A young boy has to save his father the king. He has a (gold?) cape which makes him invisible, and some kind of musical flute?) That is all we can remember. Sorry. Thanks!:)
