Hello, my name is Anthony Brogdon, I am a legal citizen of the United States. I live in Austin, Tx but I have been in Colorado for work. I met a young lady and we now live together. We are both in love and want to get married. The only problem we have is that she was brought here illegally from Mexico as a child. She has never been in trouble, she speaks very good English and Spanish . She is a very smart girl who graduated From High School and wants to go to college. We were wondering If we could even get married and if we can apply for her citizenship after being married ? Also we are worried that if we got married if they would send her back to Mexico? We are deeply in love with each other and want to start a family of our own one day. We are scared they might send her back is this true ?

Take my advice. She should try and get her green card now, BEFORE you get married... getting married is NOT a shortcut and actually complicates it. There is no guarantee she will actually get it not matter what she does. Its expensive and time consuming and can take years.

You may get married, but it is not automatic to get citizenship, she may still have to go back to be allowed to come back in legally. Or course in love, you would not mind moving to Mexico with her and living there for a while do you, since love would not care if you can be together

I also want to add, I personally know someone ( a guy) who IS a US citizen who is married to an illegal, despite tens of thousands of dollars in legasl fees and a lawyer working on their behalf for a number of years... it has come down to the reality she will NEVER be allowed to become a citizen... and she has a clean criminal record.
