    Can the police talk about a summons to another party
    My son who lives in australia got a summons delivered by the local policeman to the house where he lives with two other people who are not related to him he is very good friends with them though the policemans partner is very good friends with the girl that lives at the house and he was tallking about it to her and explaining what it was all about is this legally allowed to happen he was not home at the time he was at work.

    A summons is the beginning of a civil lawsuit. I see no problem discussing the summons with other people at the house. Why didn't your son stop the conversation if he didn't want it discussed?

    Yes, "legally" this is allowed to happen. Of course, if the conversation hurt your son financially or destroyed his reputation, well, then he could consult with an Attorney.

    Otherwise summonses and Court actions are pretty much public knowledge, at least in my area.
