I am trying to refinance my home
In 2007 I sold my home and before I could finalize the sale I found out that AVCO Fin Srv had placed a lien on the property (a bill in 1990ish). So the profit was placed in escrow to go toward the lien. I talked with the lien holder attorny and they have no record of my account, that it was sold but they don't know to who. The Law Firm here in (Huntsville) say that they will not release the lien until I pay the full amount pluse the attorny fees. The escrow company that have my monies from the sale have gone out of business. I have lost my job and can not pay the full amount of the lien. What are my options. Please help!

There is a lot about your question that I don't understand.

You say that you sold your home but in the subject you say that you are trying to refinance your home. Please clarify that for us.

You say that the lien holder's attorney has no knowledge of the lien. Then who is the attorney in Huntsville that is demanding payment? Who do they represent?

Escrow companies often are subsidiaries of large insurance companies who guarantee the agent's performance. As a starting point, look at the paperwork you have from the escrow company to see who their guarantor was. Contact them to find out what happened to the money that was held in escrow at your closing.
