There is problem with our hot water system, not getting hot water while as cold water is OK. Starting hot water there is lot of explosion sort of sounds from water cylinder and hot water will start dribbling and stops after some time.
I just bought a water heater and completely installed it. When I turned on the water supply, a very very very slow drip can be observed where the cold water nipple screws into the water heater. I shut off the water, relieved the pressure and unscrewed the nipple. I then re-apply the teflon tape...
Whenever I check my water heater it is off. I will then light the pilot and turn the heater on. It will run properly until the end of the heat cycle, but once it is done it turns all the way off instead of just leaving the pilot on.
We light the pilot liight, turn the gas from pilot and on and set the temperature to warm. Thie fire lights, stay on for 10 minutes to a couple of hours and then suddenly turns off -- no fire, no pilot, etc. Any ideas. The flame is a solid blue.
I have an A. O. Smith Power Shot Power House GPSH 50 water heater. I noticed that I had no hot water. I found that the unit cycles off and on and then the vacation lit stays lit and the unit stays off. It is a gas hot water heater but does not use a flame. The unit is about 5 years old.
