    Basic travel allowance
My girlfriend is from the UK. She has never left her homeland. She wants to visit me here in Texas. She is coming on a one way flight because we are unsure how she will be visiting. Is she required a basic travel allowance & if so, how much is that amount?

    No,

Is she a real girlfriend, someone you dated and know from real life, or is this someone you just meet online.

Normally when they ask for a travel allowance it is a sign that it is a scam. Have they already asked for money for passport and visa, if so how much

Regarding leaving the UK into the US...
Recently I asked about basic travel allowance & whether it was necessary. The response was No & that it sounded like a scam. Based off that given information I purchased a $1500 airline ticket for a woman that I have had an online relationship for nearly a year. She is very kind & has not been asking for money from me. She is a UK citizen & has never left the country. Upon arriving to the airlines this morning she was refused admittance because she had no money or invitaion from someone in the US to be responsible for her while she was there. What's going on?? Could there be any truth to this?? Is there some sort of process we are missing or is there just no truth to what she is saying?? I'm confused & very upset. I just want to get her here & she says she just wants to come. Can anybody shed some light on this?? I will be very grateful.

Okay, this doesn't involve money, but answers OP's question. Yes, they were correct at the airport, the letter they were looking for was a Visa Invitation to Visit that you provide and sign in front of a lawyer/attorney stating that you will be responsible for this visitor financially and provide a place to stay for a period of six months (while they are visiting). Yes, she would have had to have money with her to prove (or a bank statement) that she was sort of self sufficient once she landed in the US.

If someone is visiting for an extended period of the time, yes there is a basic travel allowance required because they have to prove they are self sufficient. I don't know what this amount is, but know it is considerable for immigrants wanting to stay in Canada (for example) and depends on what country they are from. This amount extends into the thousands.

I know this doesn't answer this question, just wanted to assure you that yes, this is possible.

She must be able to prove that she has adequate funding to support her stay while in the U.S. so If she is not being provided resident lodging then she will have to prove that she has enough funds to support her hotel/motel etc. stay to the CBP officer upon her arrival in the U.S. There is no set limit. It all has to do with what itinerary she provides to CBP upon arrival.
