I would like to know what could be wrong with me if I have missed my periods for 6 months. I know I'm not pregnant... this has been going on since I started my periods in 2004 I would skip two months sometimes three but never six! And whenever I go on my period I have terrible pains that cause loss of appetite, nausea, dizziness and leave me so powerless! I literally can't do anything because the blood would flow heavily for a period of a month! I've been to two different doctors who have both injected me but I haven't been to the doctor recently because I'm scared of the unknown! Please help...

You need an endocrinologist, because there are other hormones that can have this sort of effect on menstruation other than sex hormones, such as from the thyroid.

Thanks but I'm lost now what is thyroid and what is an endocrinologist?

An endocrinologist is a specialist doctor for hormones and organs that secrete hormones (chemicals your body needs). Your ovaries and pituitary are the organs that are most often connected to menstruation. But the thyroid is a small gland in your neck that secretes hormones that have a lot to do with many other hormones.

What part of the world do you live in?

Another condition might be fibroids, which is extra bleeding tissue growing outside the uterus in the abdomen, and it hurts. It can be a real problem because even if surgery is done to remove them, they can grow back, and scar tissue can cause other problems.

PLEASE go to a doctor and get real help or a referral. You don't say what the two doctors you saw said or what they injected you with! Please answer below.

Is that a sarcastic question or you really want to know which part of the world I live in? I honestly asked because I did not know... and all this is so biological it sounds greek and scary but thanks it is really helpful.

Oh my word... I don't remember very well what they said something about a hormone imbalance they gave me tons of pills but that was a while back...

It does look sarcastic, sorry! I asked because many parts of the world don't have an endocrinologist for a thousand miles!
Also many people can't afford specialists. I was asking to see if perhaps you live near a university medical center. Often they are the most willing and capable of handling unusual cases.
Can you go back and get your medical record?
