What can I do different to get my hens to lay?
I have 7, 4-5 month old hens. A week ago, we got 2 small eggs. We have not gotten anymore eggs. We let them free range during the day and we feed them laying mash and plenty of water when in their coop at night. The seem very happy and content with this and they look very healthy. What can I do to get them to start laying again?

I am not an expert in the matter , my husband use to have a chicken farm , maybe your hens are too young : things you can do:
Plenty of light, No stress, very rarely home food or not at all, clean water, check for disease and parasites, Molting and predators like snakes. vitamins.
If you like there is a site that I think is interesting

Nervous, frightened or upset chickens don't lay eggs.

Are they stressed? Perhaps the free range is concerning them -

I don't like to use a private site for info. Have you tried your local 4-H groups for information?

I live in a rural area, and there was a problem with the chickens here, their egg production. Our local newspaper said that the problem was coyotes which were prowling at night. The chickens were secure - but worried.
