Should tile installed on a tub platform be pitched slightly downward on a jacuzzi tub
I'm installing a 6ft rectangle drop-in Jacuzzi tub. The tub will rest on a wooden surround. The tub inself as a small 2' lip around the edge where in meets the surround. The surround will be laid with tile - both on the wall and around the tub lip where in meets the surround or frame. Should the tiles facing the bathroom interior be slightly pitched downward to drain water off the surround?

    Hi Tornado

I've done tons of these and I don't really see a reason to pitch the surround/platorm here.

If water gets up and on the plateform it will evaporate or you can dry it... if you pitch the platform it will only fall on the floor... don't see much difference.

Slightly sinking tub [ 10 Answers ]

When I step into my tub, it sinks down a bit from the weight. It does not sink down a tremendous amount, but it is enough that it jars the caulking and creates a little crack in the caulking. Then, of course, it leaks a bit through the crack when there is any splash. Is it normal for the tub to...
