I have a newer bathroom sink that occasionally spits water all over when I first turn it on. It is on the lower level of a two story house. Sink is about 3 years old but has recently started this... and is getting more frequent. Ideas?

Seems Like air entering the line. It could only happen is supply is shut down.
I would try full blast for a little bit to see if the air can be removed?

Did you bleed the system like Stratmando suggested? And did it solve tour problem? Back to you, Tom

I didn't get that "bleed the system" suggestion. How do you do that? Just run the water for a long time?

Yes. Simply open a cold water faucet and let all the air out. Good luck, Tom

Also let us know if it worked, I would open hot and cold at each faucet and sink if necessary.

When it spits is it all water or do you see and hear some air? This could be a pressure issue too.

Thanks. If the bleeding didn't work and we have another "spit," I'll have a plumber check out our pressure regulator. I appreciate your answer. Wouldn't have ever thought of that.-Santa

How about when you turn on hot water it comes on then sputters and shuts off? Unless you turn it on full blast.

I meant then you have to turn it on full blast.

As a rule PRVs are located at the point where the water enters the house. Let me know if you have one. Cheers, Tom

deznbob, only the hot in one fixture does this, yea? If so, sounds like you either have a loose washer in the hot stop/shutoff under the sink, or maybe you just need to fully open the stop. Let me know what you find. Oh, if your faucet is fairly old and is of the stem and gasket variety, it may be a loose washer on the hot side of the fuacet itself.
