Wiring up a desk lamp with a switch
I am re-wiring a vintage gooseneck desk lamp and I stupidly forgot to record which wires are connected where.

I'm needing some assistance. I usually figure these things out, but this time, I'm stumped.

There are two sets of wires coming from the two lamp sockets. Black and White. The switch has a red, black, and green wire. The replacement lamp cord is polarized.

The switch is, I think, a three-way. One click turns one lamp on, another click, the other lamp, and the third click turns both lamps on.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks!

Sounds like the switch is a single pole single throw (it only has 2 wires, grn is a ground. Put the 2 whites from the sockets together with 1 of the wires from the lamp cord. If you can tell you want the wire from the narrow blade of plug... Doesn't really matter though. Then the other lamp cord wire goes to the black on the switch. The red and both blacks from the sockets go together. Grn gets grounded to the lamp.

    Thank you for your reply!

Your instructions worked out and the lamp works!

However, a bit differently. Before, each turn of the switch would operate one socket, then the other, then both. Now each turn is an on/off for both.

Not an issue though, I can deal with it!

    Thanks!

You need a different switch, is that the original switch?
