Feel very uncomfortable group therapy -- should quit it?
I been assigned by therapist go to group therapies kept saying how it will be good experience to talks about how I feel to others besides her. I have gone twice now and I hate it. I am not really 'people person' in the first place. But 2 days ago a lady in there start breaking down and crying about her husband leave her for another woman and she find out through email or whatever and her grown daughter have cancer, etc. everyone go around to hug her excepts me. I don't know this lady, she's a stranger. I mean I feels bad about her situation and all. The firs time I went another woman was talk about her depression and drug addict past and prostitution days. Anyway both times I felt extremely uncomfortable listening to these people life problems. I just wanted to run out of there and probably would have if no one was looking but everyone was. I become aware that I will never share anything with those people because as I said they are strangers and don't want to tell my problems to them. I looks around and almost everyone participate except me they seem to be getting something out of this therapy. The whole thing is all very weird and I don't get it.
Anyway is it all right for me to quits this kind of thing if it's not for me? I mean how come I'm not getting anything out of it except annoyance and embarrassment like these other people? Sigh. Ty

It is perfectly normal for group therapy not to be someone's cup of tea. You would probably would get more out of a one on one counselling.

Eventually your therapist is required by her code of ethics to terminate if there is no progress. Plus, group costs a lot less, and you may run out of benefits.
You have said in another post that you were diagnosed with Aspergers?
That might mean that you do often feel uncomfortable around others, and opening up to others?
In your post about sexual fantasies you were very quick to lash out at responses, and then lash out again when people just tried to explain why they said what they did.
You do sound like you have some real problems interacting. Maybe hanging out here would be good for you. Maybe you can help some people with gender confusion, with sexual questions, with Aspergers questions. You are obviously intelligent.

You are there to learn to open up, if you quit, you will not get to be able to talk to others.
You start with strangers, since they don't know you, how hard would it be to do this with friends if you can't tell problems to strangers.

What posts about sexual fantasies it was a post about sexuality. I am not confuse about my gender either. I am a woman and have no problem with that part. There is no hope. I don't understand people best thing for me to do is get away from all of them. If I can figure out how that don't cost a lot of money I would've done it by now. I'm sick of this world and their ways

I don't has any friends and when I did I didn't sit around telling them my problems. Its weird and none of their business at all. If other peoples do this and think it's okay then that's fine for them. I am not them. I don't wants to hear other people problem and don't want to tell them mine unless its therapist. If she drop me from her program just as well I am sick of people anyway and can't figures them out. So oh well
