No Cool air from AC unit and cant afford repairman what can I do?
Just yesterday the cold air stopped and it started getting hotter and hotter in the house. The AC unit was just put in last year. I went outside to check on it and the fan isn't turning nor is there freezing on the lines. I can't afford a repairman so what can I do?

Check the 2 breakers in Main Panel and the 2 disconnects,(inside and outside), may need to turn breakers off and back on to reset.
    That's first step.

Does it sound like the outside compressor is working?
If outside fan is working, and not the compressor, compressor Cap may be bad, ot the Capacitor connections, compressor could be shorted as well.
A Meter and Caution is needed for these test.
I take it coils are not frozen over as you have cleaned them.

It will Take a Technician from here I think. I think you have done all you can, maybe.
You have determined Power is making it through all breakers and disconnects, and thermostat, and 24 volt transformer is good.
See if you can go to a neighbors house and listen for a low growl of the compressor, which sounds different than just a fan blowing. Then listen to yours for the compressor.

You stated you were renting. It should be the responsibility of the LL to fix it.

Yes, please do let us know what they find. However, next time, call the landlord. It is his/her responsibility to keep up these types of things, as mao6 said. Also, it would be best to contact landord so they can contact the original installer, as the unit may still be under warranty being only a year old.

Low on freon and capacitator was bad not to mention freon was leaking somewhere and they wanted to charge and arm and leg to try and find it and repair it. They also said a few other things might go wrong later down the line so my dad is putting in a new unit instead of taking chances on the used one. I guess any way they can rip us off, lol. Another person said it should only cost 20 bucks for another capacitator and the company wants to charge 220, lol

So the unit that was installed last year was a used unit? If so, yep, time to have a new one professionally installed. I still think you should leave this in the hands of the landlord. But, if you father is willing to foot the bill, I guess, go for it. And remember to give your daddy hugs and kisses every time you see him, cause it sounds like you got a good one.

I was told By an AC guy My unit was shot and needed $7000.00 to fix.
I have replaced the Blower motor, compressor fan, a capacitor and a contactor. Less than $300. Has kept it going another 10 years.
Some AC guys/Electricians/Any Trade, will try to generate a big job out of a small problem. Strange a Capacitor and a leak happened at the same time? I'm Not saying their wasn't a leak, and he made a big production out of it. I have seen some that should have been actors?

The was a used one and my daughters baby daddy and his boss were the ones that installed it. I guess not knowing that it had a leak and how old the unit was didn't help any either. So instead of trying to fix every little thing one at a time my dad ended up just replacing the whole unit instead.
