    Xe-900 trane
I have an XE-900 Model 3TWP 736A100A0 The compr fan will stop running but the fan on the air handler will continue. My tech came out flipped the outside cutoff and checked it out... said it need some freon... which he added and also checked the fan motor contacts... that was good also. Turned the unit back on and it was working as always. Few hours later it was blowing hot air... the compr fan had stopped again. I turned the system off and called the tech back out the next day. Before he arrived I noticed the outside cut off... which is a dp breaker... in the off position. I flipped it back on, turned the system back on and cold air was flowing again. By the time he arrived the compr fan had stopped again. He checked some elect components... not sure what except the fan contacts and the fan which he said was pulling amps whitin the proper range. He turned the cut off back on and the system and it ran like a champ... he stayed an hour to see it it would spot again... it didn't. Five minutes after he left... the compr fan stopped again... I noticed the cutoff was flipped again. My limited smarts tell me it is the compr fan, wiring to the fan, or the outside cutoff. It felt loose... like it had play in it when I was turning it on and off. I have had to change breakers doing other projects that have felt like that.

Change the breaker for a new one of same size because it will be the cheapest fix by a long shot.
