We have a 1996 GMC Siera truck. It was involved in a minor accident. It is can still be driven. The police were called so we had to contact our insurance company. When we took it in to be appraised they said it was a right off and wanted to take it. My husband wanted to keep the truck. They eventually gave him what it would cost to fix it. The insurance adjuster called and said that he would have to pay to keep his truck and something about paying the deductible.

My question is at what point did the truck not become ours? Why do we have to pay for a truck that is ours which we are going to fix at some point?
