    Electrical outlet outage
I have now four outlets in my living room that have stopped working. I have checked the breakers and they have not popped. I have tried flipping the breaker anyway and still nothing. Could you let me know possible problem/solutions?

Pull one of the outlets. See if it has been wired using the "quick connect" holes in the back. These are known to develop bad connections after a period.
If the quick connect holes have been used, rewire using the screw terminals. The bad connection is likely to be in the last working outlet or the first non working outlet. The bad connection can be in the hot or the neutral wire.

Both answers are possibly correct so far. Test the hot side of the breaker to insure power is still passing through it, if you do not know how to test for power off the breaker then call an electrician

I live in Southern New Jersey. We are currently in the midst of a huge Noreaster snow storm. At 5 am this morning, the power went out in my bedroom. I got up and saw that power was out in most of the house, however about 20 percent of the outlets were still working. Also, my natural gas powered...

OK guys I have spent some time on here trying to look for the answer before I asked a question. I hate repeats myself. I have found many with similar symptons but the fixes have not worked. I will not say that I am an expert; though I completely understand how the wiring works and have done it...

I have a partial electrical outage in my home -- mainly my master bedroom. A few days before the electricity went out (overhead and plugs) there was a strong order like stagnet water or a fish pond. After the lights went out, the smell disappeared.

Electrical outlet outage [ 2 Answers ]

While watching TV last night the outlet went dead. It may have been overloaded. However, when I tested the outlet, the checker indicated that the Hot and ground were reversed. The circuit breaker looks good and I reset it for good measure. How do I go about solving this problem? Thanks, Lloyd.
