    Does an alien retiring abroad get social security?
    I have been living in the USA as a resident alien for nearly 40 years and now plan to retire and move abroad with my (US citizen) wife. Will I be able to collect all my social security while living abroad?

    Thanks for responding. Yes, I've been paying in since 1972. I know I'm entitled to receive Social Security, but I think I read somewhere that a Green Card holder who moves out of the country may forfeit it. I intend to retire later this year and move to Israel. I hope that doesn't jeopardize my receiving Social Security?

    Thanks for responding. Yes, I've paid in for the last 40 years. My only concern is that I think I saw somewhere that if a green card holder moves abroad, as I plan to when I retire later this year, that I may not be able to collect my social security benefits. I hope that's not the case!
