My girlfriend dated a guy for 8 years before me. I met her 6 months after their breakup and we have now been dating for 9 months. Things between us have gotten serious and we have moved in together but she is still in contact with her ex. A month ago they sold the house they invested in together and she flew across the country to deal with the paper work. She ended up staying one month in the city where her ex lives and saw him repeatedly. When she came back she said she knew that he was not the one, but that she still loved him and was having a hard time getting over him. I asked her to cut off communication until she felt she was over him and if she still felt like being friends that she could try to reconnect once the feelings were gone. She said she could not bring herself to do that. She asked me to be patient and give her time to move on. But it bothers me that she still loves him and is not making an effort to get over him by cutting communication and getting closure. What should I do?
