I am a tenant that lived in my apartment for 2 1/2 years. When I moved out, I cleaned the apartment extensively, including the carpets. I have an older dog who urinated in one spot on the living room carpet several times that would not come out. I fully expected to have to pay for carpet replacement.

A couple of weeks after vacating the landlord sent me a bill for repairs. Minus my security deposit they $115, mainly due to "resealing the concrete" for "extensive pet repair damage". My pet deposit was not applied at all to the final bill. When I question this, I am told it is a "non-refundable fee". I asked what this "fee" is used for, and I cannot get a direct answer.

Is it legal for a landlord not to apply pet deposit money to pet damage repairs? I have lived in 4 apartments before this one and never have been charged for concrete sealing for my pet's accidents. HELP!

yes it is non-refundible. And it can be everything pet related. Some people have allergies and clean can mean many things.

Did they give you copies of the relevant repair bills? I'm thinking that the pet deposit wasn't sufficient and they spend the pet deposit plus the $115.
