    Colorado Bankruptcy withou a Lawyer
    How difficult is it too file for bankruptcy in Colorado. Do you really need a lawyer? I am a CPA and need to file for my 26 year old daughter.

    You can not file for her, you can help your daughter with the paper work but she will have to file it herself and she will have to appear at the hearings ( you can not give her advice at the hearings)

    The paper work is fairly easy, fill in the blank forms, you will need a print out of the exemptions for your state ( should find it on line) and the forms can be purchased as a package.online nomally.

    The only issue will be if someone objects to it, or they try to fight their debt being included or value of their debt.

    For a chapter 7 or 13 (much more common than the other chapters), there aren't "hearings" usually. There is a section 541 meeting ("First Meeting of Creditors") which she will have to attend, but the judge doesn't attend that. The bankruptcy trustee will ask her a few questions.

    You don't need to purchase a package of forms. You can find them online at the bankruptcy court website for your state.
