I recently went to my new dentist and she did a thorough examination of my teeth, gums and mouth. She noticed a 4mm semi-dark lesion on the floor of my mouth. She asked me if I was having any type of pain in my mouth, under my chin and in my neck, I have not had any. She is sending me for a biopsy by an oral surgeon but I am both petrified and scared to death that this is something that is not good at all. What percentage of non-painful lesions in the mouth are found benign versus malignant or cancerous?
