what is the "filtrate" in a chemistry experiment, copper carbonate plus+sulphuric acid= carbon dioxide= plus copper suphate plus + water

any help on what the terminology of the filtrate is would be helpful relating to this experiment.

If I'm not mistaken you have taken two liquids and mixed them together. The reaction created a solid. It was in small particulate form Copper Sulphate (blue in colour). You then filtered this solid out of the water using a cheese cloth or paper filter. The filtrate is the solid (Copper Sulphate).

I might be wrong here it has been a long time since my last chemistry lesson. Over 20 years.
