How can I find out if my state taxes were paid?
My friend's son did her taxes on line and did not make a copy. Now she needs a copy for bankruptcy lawyer. How can she get a copy of this?

The son needs to call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 and ask for a tax transcript.

The IRS normally mails this to the taxpayer, but they often will fax it if there are time constraints.

For a copy of your state income tax filing contact the state department of revenue (or whatever it's called in the state where you live) to see how to get old records. You should be able to find contact information with a Google search.
