Is it legal for ex to break into my house and take back gifts
Ex girlfriend entered my locked house without permission and removed things given as gifts. She also removed other items that belonged to me. She has never lived in my house or given a key. She told police she had entered my house and removed items with my permission via text and said she had witness to said text. I never gave permission by text or any other manner. Is this a crime? And what if any rights do I have to get my things back that she stole ?

That would be THEFT or BURGLARY, depending on your location.

    Hello k:

If she's wrapped the local cop around her finger, call the cops SUPERVISOR and have her put in jail.

    I HATE cops.

What I am wondering is whether the cops actually looked at her alleged text messages. What does a "witness to said text" mean, exactly? Someone claims to have read said texts on her cell phone? Did the police interview these supposed witnesses? Why didn't they actually look in the horse's mouth (the cell phone itself)?

This "He texted - she texted" thing sounds fishy. I would guess that the police aren't buying any of it and that an indictment &/or arrest is imminent. But who knows?

What I'm wondering is how did the police get involved? Did you report the breaking to the police? Did they then go and visit her and interview her? Did they report back to you what she said? Are you pushing them for an arrest? These are all basic questions that arise from what you have told us.
