The furnace part of my Intertherm works great, but when the air conditioning is running, it leaks water terribly. Where should we begin? We are trying to troulbeshoot and fix ourselves. My husband is an electrician, but no HVAC man. HELP PLEASE!

It could be as simple as a plugged condensate drain, Have you replaced the filter lately? Can you tell where the water is coming from?

Where does it leak water at? Can you pinpoint a leak, or what it's leaking on? My guess is also the condensate drain clog, or a connection on the evaporator (inside coil) drain pan. You might want to clean the drain anyway... one way to do that is to hook a shop vac up to the drain OUTSIDE and sucking out anything that might be in it. Look at your drain pan inside the air handler and see if water is backing up in it (not draining)(be careful pulling off and putting back on the access panels though... wires are hot and coils are easily damaged)

I own a intertherm air conditioner and I have taken a few simple steps to stop all the water problems.
1) I have angled the top A-frame section to where the water runs down the drain sections to the pipe and the water does not sit there in the drain. I placed a large sized washer(a bolt washer) in the back corners of the A-frame coils to give it enough lift, just one washer was enough to do the job in each corner.
2) clean the drain PIPE the water runs out of the air conditioner with lots of water, QUESTION, does the pipe leak?? Mine did not leak, but I could remove my pipe and look down inside and see all the dirt and mildew built up inside of the pipe, I ran five gallons of water through a funnel to help wipe out all the dirt. You may also use air from an air compressor or an reversible wet vac that can produce air pressure.
3) Clean the a frame coils, I used this type coil cleaner.

I read over twenty positive reviews and I do recommend this type. Just follow the instructions and use a wet vac and water to wash the coils, and MINE is inside the house and I cleaned mine. It took more than one can of this foam cleaner.
MAKE sure to clean the little trap drain that runs below the coils, this is where my coils built up with dirt!!
4)Once I cleaned my coils the KEY is this!! To place your air filter over the coils and use good air conditioning tape to seal the air filters air tight. This forces ALL air through the air filters and you will see the difference!!
I am NOT a professional but a home owner and I hope this helped any one who has this water problem, mine was real bad, but this 100% fixed the problem.
