    I want sole custody
I want to know if I can gey sole custody being that my child's father has done nothing for my child since birth and she will be 4 in a month. I have recently applied for child support and he now wants a DNA,which I'm willing to give but I want sole custody. I feel that when I'm ready to move out of state that I shouldn't be held back by a person that doesn't visit nor takes care of his child just because he wants to be selfish..

    You totally misunderstand "sole" custody.

Sole custody merely means that the other side does not have a partial or joint custody. There is a physical custody and a legal custody to be decided.

But Sole custody still allows the other parent visitation and stops you normally from moving out of state without their approval, Sole custody just means they live with you full time, but the other party just has visitation.

OK I thought sole custody would prevent him from trying to stop me from moving. What should I do he only wants to stop me from moving. He only visits my child once every 3-4 mo

He doesn't do anything for her not even time he would rather spend his money on drugs and partying. I really do not want child support because it is not what she is worth. I just don't want him to try and stop me from ma dreams, and that is to finish school and provide the life style that my child deserves.
