How can an inheritance be settled when heirs do not agree?
My mother died June, 2009, without a will. Her house remains unoccupied. We have had the deed to her house transferred to her three heirs, the three daughters. Two of the three wish to sell the house. One does not. The one who does not has refused to discuss the matter after missing an agreed upon deadline to buy out her sisters' portions of the house. (The amount was below market value.) As one of the sisters wishing to sell, I am frustrated. Is a lawsuit my only recourse to settling this?

How did the deed get transferred to the three people after death ? Though Probate court ? If so why was this not settled back then ?

But yes law suit is what normally happens next.
