Skipping a grade, with somewhat bad grades previously.
Hi, I'm 14 going into my Freshmen year. I'm not going to exaggerate the truth or lie about my previous grades, they were not the best. However when I was in 6th grade, I was basically ripped out of a very good school to go to a very academically I would say ' Bad ' school. The school was very full so in regards to that 7th and 8th grade had to be taught the same things, so not only was I being taught appropriate things for my grade level ; but I was also being taught 8th grade work and academic skills. Recently ( This year ) I moved back to my 6th grade year school and I started feeling like, every thing I was being taught there was just a big repeat of the previous year. Follow me ? Now, Towards the end of 8th grade year. I basically stopped trying because I felt like I was wasting my time doing work I already understood. I was definitely going to talk to my mom about Moving up a grade ( Sophomore ) But, am afraid that my grades will affect my decision greatly. I am also very accelerated in specific areas such as Reading, and English. And in Algebra am when tested honestly average, and when tested honestly in Science am a bit above average. What should I do ? This is extremely urgent to know before the start of the new school year !

How did you do on your end of year testing? Do you take state testing at the end of the year? If you do extremely well on standardized testing, many school districts would take that into consideration before "skipping" you on to another grade. Some school districts would give a temporary chance at the new grade before leaving you there, to see if you can handle the academics. At what point in the school year did you move back? Often, different schools teach lessons in a different order, so you may have missed important skills by transferring during the school year. I will try to give you more help with more information.
