Hi,
I am 42 years old, had a Cesarian section last year, and
I'm pregnant once more (end of 38th week).

1) Could I have normal delivery or is it better to have
Cesarian section (regarding my age as well as the recency of
Previous Cesarian section in just 14 months ago)?

2) In my first delivery, I was over-sensitive to the anesthetics
Used during Cesarian section, and I experienced seizure (shaking too much)
Several minutes after delivery, and the doctor administered me
Anti-seizure syringes. Can other anesthetics such as opiates
Alleviate this problem (either in normal delivery or in Cesarian section)?

3) The first date of my last period was October 11, 2011.
In Ohio, they told me that a normal delivery will be
At July 23, 2012. Doesn't this almost late time increase
The risk of damage to the Cesarian region in the previous delivery
If I choose normal delivery (I mean because of higher weight of the baby)?

Since you only had the C/S a year ago, it is best to have another so as to risk uterine rupture that could happen while laboring.

As far as the seizure, was it a full out seizure or did you just shake? Shaking is common with the medications used in the spinal.

Thanks for your reply,

As far as I remember, after they administered the anesthetics
To my spinal cord, pain flew into my body, starting from my left hand
Towards my heart.

The seizure that I described happened after the delivery. It began from
Little vibrations and progressed to shaking hands (both arms were shaking
Too much, up and down), such that they injected some syringes to relieve it.
I remember three injections. These movements were so serious that the doctor
Asked me if I have had previously experienced a seizure.

It is possible then that they may have to put you under for general anesthesia in order to do the C/S.

I have heard that general anesthesia is not recommended typically for
Ages like mine.

Your age is fine for general, typically we are talking about the elderly when discussing safety during general anesthesia.

In the end, it will come down to the decision you and your doctor/midwife make together.

And something which may be somehow on the tangent, but a source of
Much worriedness to me, is that:
My husband is a visiting scholar and we have arrived Ohio just one month ago
From overseas. We have no insurance yet and do not afford the delivery expenses.
We are low-income now and only know that the delivery would be
At lower cost if it is done as an emergency in a hospital.

Considering your familiarity with the medical system, is C/S
Considered as an emergency delivery (for lower cost)?

This particular C/S (I am a labor and delivery nurse) is a repeat C/S (meaning you've had one before), no it is not an emergency. An emergency would be considered if yours or the life of your baby is in danger, therefore having to perform an emergency C/S.

With that said, many hospital have programs that help with costs of the uninsured or underinsured.

I'm not familiar with the hospitals in Ohio, or the one you are expected to deliver at. Remember that your doctor only has privileges at one or two hospitals. So you will need to contact that hospital to ask about their particular programs.
